Salesians of INK with Fishermen`s Wives in Kerala Combat COVID-19

The Salesians of Don Bosco of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Province Bangalore [INK] have started a production of masks initiative with the wives of fishermen from Kerala state, to aid health workers and railway staff, in the battle against Covid-19.
The project involves the wives of fishermen from Kerala State, who sew these masks, that are distributed to railway staff and to health workers at the Holy Cross Hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The Salesians provide the women with the needed fabric and sewing material and also pay the women a wage for the work carried out. The masks are later distributed free of cost. In this time of global emergency, and when access to quality healthcare is limited, especially in the rural context, this venture of the Salesians of the Bangalore Province helps sustain livelihoods, and also serves as an outreach to assist service-providers.
